The Drop – Zorb Rotorua

Andrew and I celebrated Valentine’s with an adult only adventure day. My desire to share our doubles ride and a new (to us) track called The Drop located at Zorb Rotorua prompted an extra zorbing post.  We will just call this one #8A. The experience starts off a little slow and windy through some trees before you drop off the Earth (their words) and appear again at the bottom of the hill. We also did a doubles run and Andrew attempted to stand up during his solo zorb.

See Andrew’s solo experience down the Zig-Zag track from both the inside and outside views.  This was my favorite video as Andrew decided to try and hold the GoPro instead of wearing it on his head.

Next clip is of our doubles ride with the Zorb operator informing us “what happens in the Zorb ball stays in the Zorb ball”.  Ha!  The only option for couples riding together is the straight track at this particular facility. The combined weight allowed us to speed downhill like never before!  My goggles would have been handy considering I spent the majority of the ride underwater.

Finally, here is the Zorb Drop video.  Hindsight is 20/20 and I should have attempted to stand up with the GoPro in hand.  The video did not capture the feeling of falling off a cliff unfortunately.  This track is still a mystery to me as you cannot see it from viewing area and little information online.  How far is the drop? I need answers!

The pictures are from the end of the ride.  You can see the zorb ball appearing from behind the hill.

Finally, the hot spa at the end of the zorb ride to warm up before going again!
