#10 Twelve Apostles

The Twelve Apostles are a group of limestone formations located along the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Australia.  We were in Melbourne for only 3 days during our first trip to Australia and I was determined to drive out to see these. When would I ever get the chance again?  Little did I know that we would be moving to Australia exactly one year later.  The shortest route out there is about three hours and longer if you drive the Great Ocean Road route.  The last day it was predicted to rain most of the day in the city so I thought it would be perfect day for a little road trip.  My only concern was whether it would be raining once we got out there.

We arrived at the Twelve Apostles parking lot in pouring rain.  I really wanted to wait until closer to sunset anyway to get pictures.  Our plan was to get some food and check out other viewing stops before returning back.  Luckily the rain stopped long enough to snap some photos before pouring on us driving back to the hotel.

While it is named the Twelve Apostles, over years of erosion there are only eight remaining.  The main viewing platform only allows you to see some of them and the rest are hidden around the corner.  Helicopter would be the best way to see them all!
